Dealership Experience

The GM ASEP program alternates between in-school learning and paid work experience as a dealership employee at your sponsoring GM dealer. You will be learning exclusively on General Motors vehicles and systems from the first day of your education, combining invaluable work experience with a GM-backed education while getting paid to do both! Complete the program in as little as 2-3 years. Then, once you acquire the required hours, you can become a licensed Red Seal Automotive Service Technician!

Earn As You Learn

GM ASEP apprentices are paid GM dealership employees during the in-dealership portion of the program between school terms. This means that apprentices may qualify for government subsidies, such as employment insurance, while in school. This means apprentices earn as they learn and can graduate with little to no debt, with the potential of these monies covering much of the cost of their education.

Apprenticeship

Your sponsoring GM dealer will supervise your work and provide mentorship as you progress through your “In-Dealership Work Assignments” (IDWAs). This not only enables you to put into practice your classroom training, but teaches you safety, GM policies and procedures, critical thinking, diagnostic procedures, shop routines and how to communicate accurately and technically.
